LAKE CHARLES, La., July 19, 2011 – The PPG Industries Foundation has committed $10,000 on behalf of PPG Industries’ (NYSE: PPG) chemicals manufacturing complex in Lake Charles toward rebuilding Shiver Me Timbers Millennium Park, which was destroyed in an arson in January.

In addition to the corporate financial support, PPG will commit volunteer hours to assist with the construction project. “We are ready to help rebuild the park,” said PPG Lake Charles Plant Manager Jon Manns.

“PPG is committed to supporting the communities where its employees work and live,” Manns said. “PPG Lake Charles was a sponsor when the original park was built, providing nearly 700 volunteers who worked more than 3,000 hours on the project along with financial support. We are pleased that the PPG Industries Foundation is providing financial support for this important community project.”

“The City of Lake Charles very much appreciates PPG’s commitment to the Rebuilding Millennium Park project, both in the way of funding and volunteer support. PPG was a financial contributor during the original Millennium Park project, with a very visible volunteer force during the build. We are grateful for this wonderful demonstration of corporate giving and community spirit,” said Mayor Randy Roach.

According to Kay C. Barnett, Rebuilding Millennium Park chair, “We are so appreciative of this major donation and commitment of volunteer support for the rebuilding of Millennium Park. PPG’s spirit of giving to the community is very well-known, and its support of this project is the perfect example of how we are trying to build community partnerships.”
