BEIJING, July 15, 2011 – PPG Industries (NYSE: PPG) has donated more than 20,000 books worth a total of RMB 450,000 to PPG Care Libraries through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Zitong Base in Sichuan Province. The company established the CSR Zitong Base in 2009 to support charitable initiatives in the Sichuan region.

“PPG pays special attention to youth education initiatives,” said Ms. Cathy Yan, PPG general manager, government affairs and business development, Asia/Pacific. “By making donations and supporting charitable efforts through its CSR Zitong Base, PPG hopes to help more local teenagers to complete their education.”

In 2009, PPG helped to build 50 PPG Care Libraries in schools in Zitong County, Sichuan Province, and it established the PPG CSR Zitong Base, through which charitable activities continue to be carried out. In September 2009, PPG donated more than 150,000 books as well as all interior coatings to the 50 PPG Care Libraries. In 2010, PPG hosted and sponsored a “PPG Eco-life Around You” writing competition for 10 middle schools in Zitong, with more than 10,000 students entering essays for consideration. This latest book donation continues PPG’s efforts and activities in the Zitong area.

Ms. Yan said the CSR Zitong Base has received extensive support from PPG and regional employees since its establishment, and PPG will continue to promote the base as a long-term key project.
