HOUSTON, March 10, 2011 – The PPG Industries Foundation donated $2,500 to United Way of Greater Houston in 2010 on behalf of the local PPG Industries architectural coatings manufacturing and distribution operations. The support helps to cover daily operating costs for the local United Way.

"We are very pleased to receive this support from PPG," said Anna M. Babin, president and CEO of United Way of Greater Houston. “When so many in our community are struggling just to meet their basic needs, help from companies such as PPG to support the work of United Way has never been needed more.”

United Way of Greater Houston is working to meet the greatest needs in the community, tackling key social issues, such as family financial stability and early childhood education, and making a lasting difference in the quality of life of Houston’s residents.

“PPG is strongly committed to supporting the communities where its employees work and live,” said John Brandon, plant manager for PPG’s Houston architectural coatings operations. “We recognize that the United Way is leading the way to changing lives for the better in the Houston area, which is especially important considering current economic conditions, and we are happy to support their efforts.”

Established in 1951, the PPG Industries Foundation demonstrates the values of PPG Industries by enhancing the quality of life in communities where the company has a presence. Interests of the foundation, in order of priority, are education, human services, culture and arts, and civic and community affairs. PPG also supports charitable causes by encouraging employee volunteerism and executives’ involvement with nonprofit organizations.
