BURLINGTON, Iowa, March 8, 2011 – The PPG Industries Foundation donated a combined $5,000 to Junior Achievement of the Heartland and the Burlington/West Burlington Area United Way in 2010 on behalf of the PPG Industries glass tempering facility in Burlington.

Junior Achievement (JA) of the Heartland, recognized as one of the Top 20 JA chapters in the United States, received a $1,000 grant from the PPG foundation in 2010. PPG Burlington employees Tracy Elliott, technical coordinator, and Forrest Maisells, plant superintendent, both volunteer their time teaching classes for JA of the Heartland, Elliott at Burlington Notre Dame Schools and Burlington High School and Maisells at Burlington Notre Dame Schools. Both also participated with three other PPG associates in the Trinity JA Bowl-a-Thon at King Pins at Fun City in Burlington on Feb. 12, through which they contributed an additional $600.

Maisells also serves as a board member for the Burlington/West Burlington Area United Way, to which the PPG Industries Foundation donated $4,000 in 2010. The local United Way helps to fund 18 agencies that provide human service and health care programs to area residents, increasing the community’s ability to change lives in positive ways. Through its annual fund-raising campaign for the local United Way in November 2010, PPG Burlington contributed an additional $2,315 and grew annual employee participation by 10 percent to 79 percent.
