GREENSBORO, N.C., Feb. 23, 2011 – Employees at PPG Industries’ (NYSE:PPG) coatings manufacturing operations in Greensboro helped to obtain $4,345 in grants through the PPG Industries Foundation for local public schools where they have an interest and area organizations where they volunteered in 2010. The grants were obtained through the Grant Incentives for Volunteerism by PPG Employees and Retirees (GIVE) and the Public Education Leadership Community (PELC) grant employee programs of the foundation.

Through the GIVE program, which recognizes employee and retiree volunteer efforts with annual grants of $500 for an ongoing volunteer relationship or $1,000 for serving on an organization's board of directors, PPG Greensboro employees obtained three grants totaling $2,000 for eligible local organizations where they volunteered in 2010. Dominic Delph served on the board of the AAU - NC Rising Stars, Caussie Hairston volunteered with the East Walnut Cove Community Council, and Michael Moorehead supported Habitat for Humanity - Forsyth County.

Also in 2010, two PPG employees obtained funding for three public school initiatives through the PELC grant program, which provides grants of up to $1,000 each to fund school projects, materials and activities. Mark Dvorsky requested funding for Mad Science Lessons and a global citizenship project for Huntsville Elementary School, and Wayne Johnson requested a grant to fund a Jamestown field trip for fourth-graders of Mt. Olivet Elementary School. Any PPG employee may sponsor up to three PELC grant requests annually, to support projects meeting program requirements at public schools where they are involved.
