BIRMINGHAM, United Kingdom, Oct. 10, 2017 – PPG (NYSE:PPG) today announced the completion of a COLORFUL COMMUNITIES™ project in Bearwood, Birmingham, United Kingdom, that helped revitalize St. Gregory’s Catholic Primary School. The Colorful Communities program provides PPG volunteers and products along with financial contributions to bring color and vitality to communities where the company operates around the world, such as in Birmingham, where PPG has a headquarters facility for its UK Automotive OEM Coatings, Industrial Coatings and Brown Brothers Distribution.

The project brought together more than 30 PPG volunteers, who spent two days revitalizing the school’s grounds. PPG provided nearly $12,000 to assist with the project, in addition to about 25 gallons of JOHNSTONE’S® Trade Quick Dry Opaque Wood Finish and 10 gallons of other Johnstone’s Trade paint products. The selected colors ranged from natural wood to vivid, bright colors like Cornish Blue to brighten the previously dull playground area and fencing.

“Loving and Learning” is the motto of the primary school, which educates more than 200 students ages 3 to 11. PPG volunteers painted the playground facilities, small wooden garden buildings and perimeter fencing in the selected bright colors. Their efforts to create a stimulating and colorful environment will further engage the students in their learning.

“I am very proud of our employees’ effort and enthusiasm in supporting this worthy local project,” said Richard Bailey, PPG UK Market Manager, Automotive OEM Coatings. “It was very rewarding to engage more closely with our local community as we worked together to revitalize the playground and greatly improve the school environment for the children.”

The Colorful Communities program is PPG’s signature initiative for community engagement efforts, with the aim to protect and beautify the neighborhoods where PPG operates around the world. The program increases PPG’s commitment to invest in communities and supports projects that transform community assets, providing PPG volunteers and donated PPG products. In 2015 and 2016 combined, PPG completed nearly 60 Colorful Communities projects, and it expects to complete about 75 more this year.
